Solution to ‘No Audio Device is installed’ error

Check the Device Manager first (under Sound, Video and Game Controllers), make sure that the audio device is not just disabled. If the audio device is showing in the Device Manager (and ‘enabling’ it does not work), then do the following:

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu
  2. In the Search box type services.msc and hit return
  3. This will take you to the Services Manager and you need to scroll down to Windows Audio
  4. The status of Windows Audio should read Started and the Startup Type should read Automatic
  5. If the entries are different you will need to change them by right-clicking on Windows Audio and selecting Properties, change the properties and save

So guys... I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my new Seagate 320gb hdd And my audio device is not getting detected, when i opened device manager, i saw this:

The multimedia audio controller driver is not installed, when i search for it in windows update, it says...

I have even installed realtek hd audio drivers
and I think it's the multimedia audio driver which is causing the problem and because of which the audio device is not getting detected
Btw, my speakers are of odyssey, probably falling under the generic category of speakers
