The SATA ports on my HP Presario P6214Y motherboard failed. The BIOS would not recognize any of my SATA disks.
(it would sometimes for 1-2 minutes after power up)
I reset the BIOS to default.
I installed an Asmedia Asm106x PCIe controller card and connected my hard drive

I got no indication at all. No errors, no success messages either.

Still same result. Complete boot fails but will boot enough to attempt system repair and F8 works but safe mode won't work.
I'm pretty sure the hard drive is good. I was able to copy off the data to another computer with a SATA to USB device
Any other suggestions on getting it to boot?
Any suggestions on a different SATA card?
